FibRe International Conference 2024

The conference will be held 10-12 September 2024 in Gothenburg, Sweden’s second-largest city, at the campus of Chalmers University of Technology.

FibRe is a research consortium between academia (Chalmers University of Technology and KTH Royal Institute of Technology), industry and public organisation partners in Sweden. The centre is funded by Vinnova, the Swedish Agency for Innovation, and the participating universities and industries. The scope of the centre is to develop knowledge and skills required to replace fossil-based plastics with lignocellulose-based counterparts.

World-leading researchers within the fields of cellulose and lignocellulose-based materials are coming to the competence centre FibRe’s international conference. Take the opportunity to listen to excellent speakers and present your research!

TAPPI Nano Conference
BPI is part of the organizing team for this year’s TAPPI Nanotechnology on Renewable Materials Conference that will be held in Vancouver, Canada. The program offers a tour of Bioproducts Lab, Forestry Science Centre, and Biodiversity Museum at UBC.

This is the conference to attend if you work, conduct research, or use nanotechnology in any renewable materials.

SEP 4-8

INTERACT Summer School: Harnessing the Power of Interactions for Lignocellulosics Design
Welcome to the FinnCERES Flagship INTERACT Summer School: Harnessing the Power of Interactions for Lignocellulosics Design!

The course aims to give the participants insights into the chemistry and properties of lignocellulosics, focusing on how their interfacial interactions can be harnessed in advanced materials engineering. The course will explore covalent and non-covalent modification of lignocellulose components and give an overview of instrumental techniques for their characterization focusing on surface sensitive techniques. Furthermore, the course will provide a broadened understanding of the decisive role of interactions in various materials such as hydrogels, films, emulsions, and composites, to name a few. In addition, the course will highlight examples of current research on novel materials for the bioeconomy.

APR 28-29

Back To Fundamentals: Fibre, Water, Interactions
FinnCERES Scientific Seminar 2022 will focus on full utilization of the lignocellulose fractions and harnessing their inherent properties and interactions to develop novel bio-based and bioinspired materials.

We will organize a poster session for young researchers from the FinnCERES community and the Boreal Alliance network. Poster abstract submission is open until 27 March. Please submit your abstract here!

Online participation to the seminar is free of charge.

MAY 11-12

Treesearch Progress Conference
The conference will bring together participants from academia, industry, and institutes and highlights groundbreaking research on new materials and specialty chemicals from the forest. Listen to the latest scientific advances, meet old and new contacts, and take the opportunity to present your own research!

The conference fee is free for you who are associated to Treesearch or are working at a Treesearch partner.

MAY 22-25

EMPA Nanocellulose Days
The Nanocellulose Days 2022 aims to gather the leading nanocellulose scientists as well as key researchers from adjacent fields for an in depth exchange focusing on the most important challenges in the field. Specifically, the Nanocellulose Days 2022 will focus on cellulose-water interactions related to processing and performance of nanocellulosic materials. Understanding these underlying interactions is imperative to developing future advanced bio-based products for a sustainable society.

The Nanocellulose Days 2022 will be held on May 22 – 25, 2022 at the Congressi Stefano Franscini (CSF) in Monte Verità, Ascona, Ticino, Switzerland.
